No one wants to get back to featuring live music with an audience more than we do. Currently, that simply isn't possible.
Our understanding of the city's guidelines is that we would need a special permit for each instance (despite the fact we already have a Mayorality Permit, which is supposed to allow live music). Given the current restrictions for social distancing and the cost of those permits, the only entity making any money were we to start live music would be the City of New Orleans.
We continue to encourage the city to be mindful our musicians and servers depend on live music for their livlihoods and hope to see some adjustments to this policy in the near future. Once we can offer musicians not just a place to play, but a place to make some money doing it, we will not hesitate to offer live music.
Until then, please enjoy our no-audience live streams as they are available.
We hear it all the time: “I always pass by that place and think about stopping in.” Does that sound like you? Well, think about it no more.
On the Border of the Quarter since 1939, Buffa’s Bar & Restaurant is the quintessential New Orleans style neighborhood bar. During the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, food and libations are available for pick-up or delivery 11AM to 10PM, 7 days a week (kitchen closes around 9PM).
